What it Does Enables / disables SteadyShot for movies (which is a
completely different mechanism than SteadyShot for stills)

           Recommended Setting On

In the previous section I extolled the virtues of the SteadyShot mechanism,
which stabilized images by physically shifting the sensor up and down, left
and right, to exactly compensate for your hand’s shakiness (as sensed by
two internal sensors). It’s a great invention because it can work with any

Figure 5-87: The yellow rectangle represents how the SteadyShot for Movies
works. The camera crops and rotates each frame in real time so that they best
match previous frames. To do this (and to prevent a blank area from showing
up along the edges) the camera makes the active movie area smaller to give it
some leeway for correction. That’s why the camera crops your field of view a
little bit when Steadyshot for Movies is enabled.
