370                        The “Setup” (Toolbox Icon) Menu Settings




           9.18     DATE/TIME SETUP

           Menu Position  MENU     4  Date / Time Setup

           What it Does  Sets the system time, day, and display format

           Recommended Setting   n/a


           When you turn on your camera for the first time you see this screen, which
           asks for the time and the Area setting (next section). The only reason to
           access  this  is  if  you  change  time  zones  and  you  wish  to  have  the
           timestamps on your images accurate.
           If you're looking to set the camera's clock to be accurate to the second, use
           this technique:
               1.  Invoke this menu item.
               2.  Enter the time and date one minute ahead of the current time
               3.  When you press the center of the joystick ("Enter"), the time is set
                  and the clock starts counting from zero seconds.




           9.19     AREA SETTING

           This sets your time zone.  It is used to help the camera switch to daylight
           Savings Time automatically when that feature is enabled in the Date / Time
           setup (previous section).
