            3. Place the camera into “A”perture exposure mode and open the f/stop
               all the way (smallest number).
            4. Ensure that only the center focusing point is selected (via Fn  AF
               area  Center).
            5. Turn off SteadyShot, and put your camera into 2s self timer mode.
            6. Autofocus on the center line, and then take a picture.
            7. Play back the image and examine closely the scale on the picture’s
edges. A properly working camera-lens combination will look like
that in Figure 6-23a; a problem combination looks like that in Figure
               6-23b.
            8. If you have a problem lens, you can “dial in” a correction via the
               camera’s AF Micro Adjust feature:
                a. Go to MENU  6  AF Micro Adj.  amount
                b. Setting the adjustment for the lens to +20 will have the camera
focusing 1 cm further away than it should (this is how I shot
                    Figure 6-23b)
                c. Setting the adjustment for the lens to -20 will have the camera
focusing 1 cm closer than it should.
                d. Repeat steps 6-8 until the center line looks sharp. Then change to
your next lens and repeat the procedure starting from Step 6.

Figure 6-23: Healthy test results (left), and a problem (right). The problem is that
the center of gravity of in-focus measurement marks is to the left of the large
