           6.31 CUSTOM KEY SETTINGS

The A77 II allows you to assign new functions to the following buttons,
overriding the factory defaults (but not their labeling!):

 The “C” Button  The White Balance Button
 The Center Button  The Drive Mode Button
 The AEL Button  The Preview Button (near the
 The AF/MF Button base of the lens)
 The Smart Teleconverter button  The Focus Hold Button (found
 The ISO button on some high-end lenses)
               The Exposure Compensation
                 Button

Reassigning buttons is pretty straightforward – just do Menu  6 
Custom Key Settings, choose the button you wish to re-assign, and then
choose from the menu of allowable functions.
All functions can be assigned to all buttons EXCEPT for the “Standard”
function, which can ONLY be assigned to the center button of the joystick.
There are some assignable functions that don’t appear in any other menu
and require some explanation. I’ll go over ALL of the available functions
here, and then will explain the ones that aren’t covered in the book
           anywhere else.

And the choices you can assign to any of these buttons are…
            Feature Description

Standard In anything but Manual Focusing mode, this temporarily switches
(Center Button from whatever focus mode and focus area you’re using to Spot
(Joystick) ONLY) Focus and AF-S. (I find this helpful when I’m normally shooting
AF-C mode with Wide Area AF – it lets you switch gears instantly.)

Drive Mode Brings up the Drive Mode menu screen (and does what the
                          dedicated Drive Mode button does).
Flash Mode A quick way to access the Fn  Flash Mode menu (Section 5.8)

Flash Comp. A quick way to access the Fn  Flash Comp. menu (Section 5.9).
