Toggle assigned button again. Not available in menus.
Center Lock-On Initiates the Tracking of a slow-moving object (Section 5.30).
AF
Eye AF Like Face Detection on steroids, this enables only the focus
point(s) in front of the subject’s eye if it detects a face. Press and
hold the assigned button to have this take effect. If the eye is
between focus points, then just standard Face Detection takes
over. Only works in AF-S and DMF mode. Not available in a
menu.
AF Lock Shooting in AF-C (Continuous) focusing mode? Press this assigned
button and you instantly change to AF-S, and the camera will lock
focus.
AF On Does the same thing as pressing the shutter release button
halfway – it initiates autofocus. Might be handy for those of you
who wish to AF with one button and take pictures using the other.
Use in conjunction with AF w/ Shutter menu item, Section 6.20.
AF Range Initiates the AF Range Control function, as originally described in
Control Section 6.10.1. Not available in a menu.
Focus Hold Disables AF for as long as you hold the assigned button down. I’m
not sure of any scenarios where this would be useful. Not
available in a menu.
Aperture Performs the classic “depth-of-field preview” button function –
Preview stops down the lens so you can see what will (and won’t) be in
focus before you shoot. Normally assigned to the button by the
lens base. See Section 10.18. Not available in a menu.
Shot Result In addition to performing Aperture Preview described above, it
Preview will also preview lens corrections and DRO effects before you
shoot. See Section 10.18. Not available in a menu.
Smart Does a digital zoom by throwing away pixels from the periphery of
Teleconverter the image. You don’t want this. See Section 10.15.
Zoom Invokes the Clear Image Zoom / Digital Zoom function described in
Section 5.26.
Focus Magnifier Magnifies the Live View image so you can manually focus with
great precision (Section 5.26). Not available in menus.
