drive chain while the engine is running.

                      DRIVE CHAIN SLACK INSPECTION
Turn the ignition switch OFF, support the motorcycle on
its sidestand, and shift the transmission into neutral.
Check the slack in the drive chain lower run midway
                      between the sprockets.
                      DRIVE CHAIN SLACK: 35 – 45 mm (1.4 – 1.8 in)

                       • Excessive chain slack, 60 mm (2.4 in) or more, may
                        damage the frame.

                                                                                       35 – 45 mm (1.4 – 1.8 in)
                      ADJUSTMENT
Loosen the rear axle nut [1].
Loosen the lock nuts [2] and turn the adjusting bolts [3] [4] [3] [2]

                      slack is obtained.
Make sure that the rear end of the adjusting plates [4]
are aligned with the same number of the index lines [5] [5]
from the rear end of the swingarm.
                                                                                                           [1]
Tighten the axle nut to the specified torque.
                      TORQUE: 100 N·m (10.2 kgf·m, 74 lbf·ft)
Hold the adjusting bolts and tighten the lock nuts to the [7]
